"Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?" Luke 24:32 Two disciples walked away from Jerusalem carrying the weight of disappointment, confusion, and grief. They had hoped, and it seemed that hope had been buried along with Jesus. Then a stranger joined them on the road. He walked with them, listened to them, and opened the Word to them. And when He broke the bread, everything changed. Their hearts had been burning the whole time. They just hadn't recognized Him yet. That is exactly what happens at the Emmaus Men's Retreat. Over the course of this powerful weekend, men come together as those two disciples did, and encounter the Risen Christ in a way that is personal, transforming, and real. Through prayer, Scripture, brotherhood, and the Eucharist, men leave Emmaus with hearts on fire: clearer in their faith, stronger in their vocation, and renewed in their purpose as husbands, fathers, and servants of God.
